O filme-coisa de Coutinho (2)

Inácio Araújo

O princípio central em “Um Dia na Vida” é o de não intervenção.

Trata-se de permitir que o mundo se mostre tal qual, sem a interferência do artista.

Existe aí, primeiro, o parti pris de Rossellini. Deixar que o mundo apareça, que a realidade se imponha.

Mas, como em Rossellini, o artista, por menos que interfira, é aquele que seleciona as imagens, monta, significa em última análise.

Eduardo Coutinho procura ampliar um tanto essa idéia. Já estamos então no combate, como ele mesmo definiu, ao artista romântico, ao ser de exceção, ao demiurgo.

“Um Dia na Vida” filma 19 horas de televisão ao longo de um dia. TV aberta. Importante é que se trata de um dia inteiramente comum: sem eventos excepcionais, sem fim de semana, jogos de futebol. É o que a TV nos traz que importa.

Eis aí a “coisa”.

Ela pode ser vista de muitas maneiras.

Mas Jorge Furtado chamou a atenção para algo bem importante durante o debate que aconteceu depois da sessão única.

Os programas de TV aparecem, aqui, deslocados de seu verdadeiro habitat e de sua verdadeira função. Assim como os ready mades de Duchamp, “Um Dia na Vida” é como uma bicicleta colocada num museu. Não é mais uma bicicleta.

A TV, notamos agora, faz barulho todo o tempo. É alta. Ela precisa ser alta porque a maior parte do tempo o espectador nem assiste os programas. Faz outras coisas. O ruído é que lhe faz companhia.

Então, assim como a bicicleta no museu, olhamos (e escutamos) a tudo de outra maneira, à maneira do cinema, não mais da maneira original.

Seria possível dizer, à maneira de Godard, que transformando a TV em imagem Coutinho inseriu realidade nela?

Porque uma coisa que choca, desde que acompanhamos a sucessão de programas, das 6 da manhâ à 1h da madrugada, mais ou menos, é a perfeita irrealidade da televisão.

Ela é imagem da não imagem. Ruído encobrindo as coisas. Coisas disfarçadas de coisas. Parece que ninguém na TV tem o cabelo com que nasceu. Todos são pintados. A imagem da TV não mostra isso. A do cinema, sim. Tudo é falso. Essas pessoas, vistas em pessoa, devem ser assustadoras.

O cinema enche a TV de real. Mas então nos damos conta de que a TV é um mundo de horror. Será verdade? Será essa a verdade? Será esse deslocamento uma injustiça? Eis coisas que Coutinho sequer comenta. Ele apenas mostra.

Algumas são especialmente intrigantes.

Wagner Montes, que faz um programa desses de polícia no Rio de Janeiro, exibe a cena de um rapaz que espanca uma moça, talvez namorada, numa beira de estrada. Ninguém parece se incomodar com o fato. É brutal.

Mas, pensando bem, essa câmera que está lá, fixa, acompanhando toda a cena, quem a colocou ali? Um passante? Passa alguém nesse lugar? E por que não interveio, não impediu o espancamento? Conclusão quase inevitável: eis aí mais um fake. Uma coisa. Não o real, mas uma cena ficcional que se passa por real. Uma mentira. Fora do cinema não se percebe isso. Aceita-se.

A exibição em cinema da TV (a coisa-filme exibe a TV, não programas específicos) mostra o não dito da TV, o que a imagem da TV não revela, porque nos tira do envolvimento em que mergulhamos.

Será que isso aconteceria com qualquer outro meio?

Será que, por exemplo, o mesmo aconteceria com páginas esparsas de um livro?
